"Sitting here on a beautiful sunny day in London after
an amazing gig last night at the 12 bar club.totally awesome
crowd and vibe... cheers to everyone who came along! It's
been a pretty wicked last month in every way. So many great
moments. The fete de la musique in france was just unbelievable.
This is the national music day in France and they celebrate
it like nothing i've ever seen in musical terms. It seemed
there was a band or act on every street corner, from young
up and comers, to old rockers, to freaked out crazy acts to
just sheer brilliant musicians all over. I witnessed all this
in Paris but it is apparently the same all over the country.
Often the shop owners provided electricity usually in the
front of their store and the bands played right on the street!
There were of course some huge stages all around the city
too with some seriously good music going on and people everywhere.
It went on and on all day and night and was quite similar
to a new years experience only better!
I was invited to play also on one of the big BHV stages and
had a wicked set in the afternoon. Thanks to all you beautiful
people at BHV for looking after me.
The best thing i saw on this day though was on one of the
street corners where there was this full on rockin band blasting
away at full volume and this sweet old lady (she must have
been at least 80) who unfolded her portable chair on the footpath,
took a seat and swayed and nodded her head to the music...totally
into it in every way. This really blew me away and totally
summed up the experience...young and old all happy and celebrating
together. No problems, no fights, no noise complaints... just
one big party. This is what i truly love about the french
culture... always the importance on living life to the full
and this day was just the classic example and a memory i'll
never forget.
My last headline gig in Paris was another awesome experience
too. A wonderful gig and then an after party and jam that
just continued on and on and on into the night. Tres cool.
Have met and made so many beautiful friends in France and
missing you all already. Prend bien soin de vous mes amis
et à tres bientot!" |
